Join Us Poolside!
Way back in 1972, neighbors from the Carolanne Farm Civic League joined together to build a large community pool where neighborhood families could meet to cool off, watch their kids swim, talk to friends and neighbors and just relax.  Luckily for us, this enlightened group accomplished this incredible task, and in August of 1972, the Carolanne Farm Swim Club was opened.

In order to build the swim club, the founders put up their own money to finance the project, and then dedicated many hours of hard volunteer labor to make their dream come true. It was hard work, but the pool was built and the fun began.  Our swim club holds a deep gratitude to the many individuals who dedicated their time and energy over the years to make the Carolanne Farm Swim Club a lasting reality.

As time passed through generations the club has established itself as a place where the Kempsville community can gather for exercise, recreation, socialization, a place where kids are safe and having fun. Families and friends enjoy the warm summer air, and of course many new friends are made.  Talk about tradition, many children who grew up at the pool now watch their own children and grandchildren enjoying the same pool they learned to swim in.  Yes, without a doubt, “the pool” is Kempsville’s favorite summer place for kids and families.  We know what fun is all about!

Off to the west side of the pool is a large green lawn where picnic tables rests under the mature shade trees. It is the perfect place to relax with a good book, or maybe even take a quick snooze.  Way over on the east side of the pool, the afternoon sun offers spectacular tanning for those of you desiring to be golden brown.  All you sun lovers can tan until the sun sets and the lights come on.

The pool is a large 25-meter cross-shaped configuration, which has a shallow section, a deep diving section, long lanes for lap swimming, and a large open area where kids love to gather.  One-meter diving boards are common, but way up there in the sky is the way high 3-meter board.  Yes, we have the only 3-meter board in the area so don’t let anything but fear stop you.  Still scared?  Well don’t worry about hitting the bottom in the very deep 14’ diving section, you won’t.  Everyone knows exercise is important, so lap swimming is available at frequent times so lanes are dedicated. Best of all (for the adults) every hour has a 15-minute adult swim where kids are not allowed in the water. Adult swims are a great time to walk or just cool off in the calm, clear water.

Nearby, is a very shallow children’s pool for kids 5 and under to play. With lots of toys, the area is fenced so parents to relax and watch their younger children have fun.  The concession stand, known as “The Snack Bar” offers hot and cold food, snacks, cold drinks, and the cheapest prices in town.  It is also a great place for many pool and snack items.

The Clubhouse is a great place to hold kids birthday parties, school parties, or just parties.  The air-conditioned clubhouse can be reserved by all members, see the gate attendant or this website for a party application.   Gas cooking grills are available for member use at all times. Most evening, grills are ready for use, just in case you have a steak, burgers, or chicken to cook.

Picnic Tables are located on the west side grassy area provides a great place for lunches and shade.  The shuffleboard court is always a favorite, perhaps a game of hoops, or maybe even an invigorating game of volleyball in the sand court.  Tuesday nights are pre-teen nights three times a month. All the kids can invited their friends for a great evening of swimming, winning door prizes, and lots of fun with other kids their age. Once a month is teen night for older kids only.  They can crank up their tunes on our new audio system while they swim, play hoops, water or sand volleyball or just hang out with their friends. Lot’s of prizes and contests keep things exciting.

Twice a month, it is family night where people cook out on the grills or order a delivery pizza. Of course you can just relax by the pool and enjoy the warm summer breeze while the kids play with all those cool pool toys they bring.  While you relax, the kids have a blast burning off all that excess energy. Last, but not least, twice a month is adult night where adults get together.  Everyone brings a dish to share, and their own main dish to cook. The smell from the steaks, ribs, or shrimp grilling washes over the crowd as they listen to music and enjoy adult beverages with their friends.  After dinner many chose to take part in a true Carolanne Farm tradition.  The adult night volleyball game, a friendly, yet competitive game often lasting until late into the warm summer night as players rotate in and out.  Best player or worse player, you are welcome and will have fun.  Why? Because fun is our goal.

Everyone knows all kids should learn to swim.  Carolanne Farm Swim Club offers very reasonable swim lessons in all abilities at many convenient times.  Competitive swimming is big and “The Hurricanes” swim team is always competitive.  From the youngest to the oldest, our swim team sets the standard for excellence.  But there is more!  The swim team has more social events to encourage team spirit and sportsmanship.

Relax, everyone who knows, knows the Carolanne Farm Swim Club is the family summer tradition for good time with family and friends in Kempsville. Come meet your neighbors and have fun.  There isn’t a better place in Kempsville to meet new friends than the Carolanne Farm Swim Club.  Summer is coming, and we can’t wait!
